The phrase ‘Awake In Deep Time’ is from a book by a man who took entirely too much LSD and existed outside of time. (We’ve all been there…)
But for me the phrase also encapsulates the human predicament. Quite against our wishes, we find ourselves awake in the deepest of times. The chaos of society, the Pandora’s box of technology, the stubborn persistence of humanity.
The tracks on this album were written over the last 10+ years, spanning my late 20s through to my early 40s. So in a very real sense, it charts my growing understanding of the world and coming to terms with it all.
Some of these tracks feel foreboding, some despondent, some a bit unhinged. But it ends on a note of acceptance and hope, which is where I think I’ve landed.
