“I had some down time between scoring projects through the holidays of 2023/24 and wanted to reset with some music that wasn’t for anyone else. Originally, the intention wasn’t to necessarily make an album, I just had this idea that I really wanted to write a drum’n’bass track with brushes on the drum kit and a double bass. That became ‘Sometimes, I Feel You’ which landed pretty hard with me.
So, over the next ten days, I just went at it in the studio. The rhythms for the album are quite granular and meticulous, so I wanted to balance that up by putting just about every single note of synth through tons of tape processing. I also played a lot of guitar on these tracks, which was again hugely processed. All of this brings texture and contrast.
I just wanted to make soundscapes and landscapes you can inhabit as a listener. The darkness of the music gave birth to the title of the album, but there is a lot of beauty in dark places, and it was that beauty that I was, and always am looking for.”
